Being an author is a business – a hard one at that. Being a Self-Published author is particularly difficult. Not only do you have to write and edit your own book (though luckily I had a LOT of help on the editing aspect), but you also have to promote, market and sell your novel. I’ve been in Advertising/Marketing since I graduated college back in 2005. I’ve been lucky enough to learn tricks of the trade having worked for several ad agencies. Nonetheless, marketing your own project is a far different experience than marketing a client’s project. Not saying that I didn’t give it my 100% before, but now there seems to be a certain level of….well, of fear associated with it. My novels are my babies and it’s a scary thing to thrust them into the public spotlight. That being said, I want them to be out there. It’s a horrible paradox and one I’m still trying to wrap my head around.
I still work full-time and it’s been rather difficult to find the time to promote my book properly. On top of that, I still have the desire to complete Silver, my standalone book, and a Chic-Lit novel that I have on the back burner. So, I think I’ll take a break from promoting the Life Force Trilogy for now. I’m a writer foremost and I just really want to focus on that – writing stories that I can share with everyone.
God will take care of the rest.
