Self-publishing a book can be really stressful at some points. Though an author may have a lot of help from many people, moreover a lot falls on an indie author’s shoulders. I have been privileged enough not to run into many hiccups along the way of my indie author journey and feel so blessed to have signed with Limitless Publishing in June 🙂 To be part of a team thrills me and I feel so blessed to be part of a supportive network.
I did self-publish a final book, the Urban Fantasy novel, PLAN A: LYCAON’S KISS. I thought all was dandy, but it was not. Something happened that left me feeling utterly horrible.
PLAN A was published on July 21, 2014 amidst recovery from a surgery. The original “final” file had been lost on a drive that broke right before I hit “publish” (Eff me, right?) so I scrambled to reformat another copy of the file. In doing so I must have corrupted it in some way. I don’t know what happened, but I did not notice the corruption when I originally published the novel. Well, 2 days into release I did find out formatting was off and did my best to correct it. It was republished and I thought all was well. It wasn’t. To add insult to injury, I may have corrupted the file even more as conversion was just BAD.
I am currently working on providing the final CORRECTED updated copies to those who had bought the two messed up versions. I feel so horrible that all this happened and wanted to reach out to my readers to say, I’m sorry. My readers mean everything to me and to think that I may have given them a less than stellar copy of my novel pains me to no end. I am trying my best to remedy the problem, but while I wait I can’t help but feel completely saddened by the whole mess.
I am so sorry.
**I just got word that there was a conversion issue that affected some other novels. Feeling a bit better knowing that it can and may happen**
